Our Bureau department, (we do the scoring of assessments at JvR), recently had a teambuilding session and in keeping with one of our company values, ‘Commit to being good corporate citizens in every sense of the word’, we decided to give back to the community in some way.
We visited the Princess Alice Adoption House in Westcliff, that currently houses 30 babies and 3 expectant mothers. They have a monthly wish list of real basic needs and in the true JvR spirit, we were able to gather a whole lot of baby goods as well as purchase a lot of the things from their wish list. A big thank you to our JvR colleagues!
It was a great opportunity for us to assist someone in a very small way, but sometimes a little help goes a long way!. This was truly an eye-opening experience for all of us, but an experience we will not forget very quickly. We are also devoted to visiting them again soon and to help out with some maintenance work in-and- around the house.
The Adoption House has so many roles that you can be a part of – from donating books for their book sale, providing a service, or just by completing a My School Programme form where just by shopping by participating shops (e.g. Woolworths), you will be raising funds for the house. There is so many ways in which every one of us can make a difference towards this Programme! Please contact them, should you have any donations of any kind or if you can volunteer your services in any way.
