Talk about climate change is everywhere! One cannot help but come to an awareness of the issue, and then, as soon as you do, immediately shelf it back into your subconscious.

The problem is that the causes and implications of climate change are so huge that we find it hard to even comprehend…there is no clear call to action yet. No clear and practical strategy in the right direction…Nothing to help us figure out how we can make a difference.

So we suffer from choice paralysis…either doing nothing, or passionately debating without any resolution (i.e. Copenhagen)…

Scroll down and complete our questionnaire:

One action that we know can help is to get an idea of where we stand, before we try and decide what we want to do! Any strategist, educator or facilitator knows this – First agree where you are now (and be very honest), and then where you want to be and how to get there.

Psychology has not been at the forefront of these discussions. In this regard, we decided to first get an idea of where we stand as knowledge workers in the human sciences.

Fill in the questionnaire and click “submit”

Using the data that we gather here, JvR will be presenting a debate at the SIOPSA conference on climate change and the role of the Industrial Psychologist within this context.

We would like to highlight your feelings and attitudes at this forum and would appreciate feedback so that we may share your views. This short questionnaire will help in establishing a base from which Psychologists can get involved in this area. Please fill it in (it should only take a couple of minutes) forward to everyone that you know.

Interesting take on the subject. I have never really thought of the role an industrial psychologist would play regarding climate change.

Climate change (and all that goes with it) will change every aspect of our functioning – I think it is essential for psychologists to consider the implications for our profession

Thank you for your comments on the climate change issue. With changes in weather, climate and increase in natural disasters as well new green business and technologies, I am sure that the world of work and how we do business is bound to change(or many feel, may not!).
The SIOSA debate may be a good time to start the discussion for considering the implications of climate change to the profession of psychology. We hope that you will continue to be a part of this discussion going forward.

Frustrated at the lack of government will in increasing committment to expenditure on alternative sources of energy. Wind and Solar in particular.
